Queensland Treasurer Cameron Dick handed down his third state budget for the Palaszczuk government on July 21, 2022.
Key highlights in the 2022–23 budget for community groups and economy recovery include:
- $39.1 million over four years to fund the Small Business Grants and the Mentoring for Growth program
- $6 million in increased funding over four years and $1.5 million per annum ongoing to continue the Community Sustainability Action Grant program
- $3 million additional funding in 2022-23 towards the Community Partnership Innovation Grant scheme
- $1.5 million funding has been reallocated in 2022-23 to provide grants to support local communities with their alcohol management plans
- $540,000 for the Investing in Queensland Women grant program
- $250,000 to support community-led projects that improve women's safety through the Safe and Diverse Communities grant program
- $230,000 increased base funding of neighbourhood and community centres
- Cuts to payroll tax for small-to-medium-sized businesses
It's still unclear when or how this money will trickle down to not-for-profits and community groups, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for grant updates relevant to Funding Centre members.
