Treasurer Rita Saffioti handed down the Western Australian budget on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
Funding highlights for community groups and social sector services included:

- a $6.7 million top-up to the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund and the Club Night Lights Program, increasing the total funding for both programs from $18.8 million to $25.5 million in 2024–25
- $2.4 million for a new Women’s World Cup Legacy Grants program to provide infrastructure and facility improvements grants for women’s National Premier League teams to support women’s participation
- $2.1 million in additional investment in public schools through grants and capital projects over 2023–24 and 2024–25
- a $1.4 million boost over 2023–24 and 2024–25 for Women’s Grants for a Stronger Future Program
- $400,000 for a new Dung Beetle Soil Health Grants Initiative
- Increased funding for the Lower Carbon Grants Program – Gordon Fund due to industry contributions
- Increased funding between 2023–24 and 2027–28 for the Local Capability Fund
- Increased funding over 2023–24 and 2024–25 for Community Gardens Grants
It's still unclear when or how this money will trickle down to not-for-profits and community groups, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for grant updates relevant to Funding Centre members.
