October is Mental Health Month, and this year’s theme, Together We Thrive, is all about the role connection, belonging and community play in our mental health.
According to Mental Health Australia, "nearly two-thirds of people (64%) believe we are becoming more disconnected from each other, despite recognising the positive impact connection and belonging have on their mental health".
Not-for-profits are at the heart of closing that gap. Whether you run dedicated mental health services or bring people together through sport, arts, volunteering or community programs, your work helps people feel connected and supported. Here are some funding opportunities and tools to support you and your team.
Below is a live look at opportunities in the Funding Centre database tagged with mental health. It includes grants, scholarships and in-kind support that are open now.
Most of these opportunities aren’t tied to Mental Health Month. They may support projects, programs, events and services that build community wellbeing all year round, so they’re worth a look even if you’re planning ahead.
For full access to every listing in the database, check out our Membership plans and pricing.
Creating a workplace where staff and volunteers feel safe to speak up starts with a clear plan. Our sibling enterprise, Institute of Community Directors Australia, has curated a suite of wellbeing tools, including strategy and policy templates.
If you or someone you work with needs support, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636.
