What’s in the 2025–26 New South Wales budget for your grantseeking organisation?

Treasurer Daniel Mookhey handed down the New South Wales budget on June 24, 2025.
Here are some of the funding highlights for not-for-profits and community organisations:
- $1.6 billion for disaster relief and recovery programs administered by the NSW Reconstruction Authority
- $358.3 million over four years for disaster recovery and relief measures in response to the May 2025 east coast floods (including Australian Government co-contributions)
- $280 million for Screen NSW to support the Made in NSW and Post, Digital and Visual Effects Rebate programs
- $202 million in new funding for Closing the Gap initiatives including:
- $23.8 million for community-led language programs
- $19.9 million for culturally responsive community-led suicide prevention initiatives
- $12.1 million for the Aboriginal Employment Program to enable First Nations people to practise sustainable natural resource management
- $6.2 million for the Community Connectors initiative, which helps students to overcome barriers to education and access culturally appropriate services
- $5.6 million for Aboriginal Language and Culture Nests to support cultural preservation, student engagement and employment pathways
- $5.5 million for Regional Operations Model hubs to provide place-based mentorship for First Nations students.
- $154.5 million over three years for disaster recovery and relief measures in response to Tropical Cyclone Alfred (including Australian Government co-contributions)
- $41.6 million to deliver the Better Open Spaces grant program to embed best practice inclusive design in public open spaces
- $41.4 million for national park projects to reduce vulnerability to future natural disasters
- $25.8 million for the Office of Sport to support local community-based sport
- $20.6 million for the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner to support the night-time economy and local councils through a variety of initiatives including grants programs
- $20 million for Sound NSW to deliver grants programs, capacity-building initiatives and regulatory reform to strengthen the music industry
- $14.5 million for Multicultural NSW to support community cohesion and multicultural communities
- $3.1 million over two years for local initiatives to improve environmental and First Nations heritage outcomes in regional areas
- $50 Active and Creative Kids combined vouchers for eligible families available twice a year to enable kids to participate in sports, recreation, cultural or creative activities
- Companion animal grants to enable improved animal welfare outcomes
